Get Strong! Why Lifting Weights is Important for Women

February 16, 20242 min read

Did you know that lifting weights isn't just for men? It's super important for women to focus on strength, too.

We have strength as one of our four core fitness categories and have built our schedule to make sure it's well covered every day in our classes.

Here are some reasons why it's important for women to lift weights and strength train:

Makes Bones Stronger: As you age, you start losing muscle mass. This starts as early as 30 for women. Lifting weights helps your bones grow stronger and less likely to break.

Helps You Burn Energy: When you lift weights, your body keeps burning calories even after you're done. That means your workout keeps working for you long after you are done with it.

Makes You Strong: Lifting weights doesn't just help build muscle, it also helps you do everyday stuff easier. Carrying heavy bags, walking the stairs at home carrying the laundry basket, playing with the kids and grandkids – it all gets easier when you're strong!

Makes You Feel Happy: Lifting weights isn't just good for your body, it's good for your brain too. It helps your brain release feel good chemicals that make you feel awesome. Plus, when you get better at lifting weights, it helps you move your body in a more functional way, too.

So, next time you see some weights, give them a try. It's not just about getting muscles – it's about getting stronger, healthier, and feeling great about yourself. We have many strength class options at VFit Studio you can check out.
