The way you start your day can have a HUGE impact on how the rest of it unfolds.
As we dive into the holiday season, we're reminded that a solid morning routine isn't just a luxury — it's a necessity for maintaining balance, staying energized, and thriving amid the hustle and bustle.
Whether you're juggling family, work, or social commitments, carving out time for yourself in the morning can help you face the day with clarity and confidence.
One of the eight pillars of wellness is "me time," and we believe it’s best to prioritize this self-care right at the start of the day.
Over the years, we’ve fine-tuned our morning routine to make sure we're physically, mentally, and emotionally ready to take on whatever the day throws at us.
Here’s how we structure our mornings — and 5 tips you can apply to your own routine to create a more intentional, energizing start to your day.
The first step of our morning routine is setting aside quiet time for ourselves. We find that journaling or simply sitting in silence for a few minutes is incredibly powerful. Whether it’s writing down your thoughts, reflecting on things you're grateful for, or setting your intentions for the day, this peaceful practice helps us center ourselves before the world starts to demand our attention.
Tip: Start your day with 5-10 minutes of journaling or meditation. Focus on gratitude, write down a few affirmations, or just reflect on what you’re excited about. This moment of stillness can help you align your thoughts and intentions, making it easier to tackle your to-do list later.
Movement is a cornerstone of our morning routine, and we prioritize getting outside, even if just for a short walk with our furbaby. It’s not only a great way to get our blood flowing but also provides an opportunity to enjoy the beauty of the world around us — like the sunrise pictured here.
Starting the day with fresh air and gentle movement helps clear our minds, and it gives us a sense of accomplishment before we've even had our first cup of coffee.
Tip: Whether it’s a walk, stretching, or a light workout, make movement a part of your morning routine. It doesn't need to be intense — even a few minutes of activity will help you feel more awake and energized. If you can, step outside for a breath of fresh air to kickstart your day.
For us, movement doesn’t stop with a walk. After we’ve had a little time for reflection, we dive into more intentional physical activity.
Some mornings, that’s a gentle yoga session to stretch and energize the body. Other days, it’s a high-energy cardio blast class to really get the heart pumping.
Either way, we make it a priority to move our bodies in a way that makes us feel strong, flexible, and ready for whatever the day may bring.
Tip: Find a workout that you love and that fits your energy level for the day. Some mornings you might feel like a calming yoga flow, while other days, you’ll want an intense HIIT session to get your blood pumping. The key is to stay consistent and listen to your body. A little movement every morning can make a big difference in how you feel throughout the day. Our schedule has all sorts of options available every morning, check it out here.
We’ve all heard the saying, "Breakfast is the most important meal of the day," and we truly believe it.
After a good workout or morning walk, we love to nourish our bodies with a healthy breakfast that gives us lasting energy. This might include a smoothie bowl, oatmeal with fruits and nuts, or eggs with avocado and greens.
Eating a balanced meal in the morning sets the tone for a healthy day and helps stabilize our blood sugar levels, keeping us energized throughout the morning.
Tip: Make sure you’re eating something that fuels your body and gives you lasting energy. Choose whole, nutrient-dense foods that provide protein, fiber, and healthy fats. And if you're not a big breakfast person, start small — even a handful of nuts or a green smoothie can give you a quick energy boost.
Before we dive into the day’s tasks, we take a moment to set clear intentions.
What do we want to achieve today, and how do we want to feel as we go about it?
Sometimes, this might include specific work goals or a reminder to take regular breaks. Other days, it's a reminder to prioritize our well-being and maintain a positive mindset, especially as the holiday season ramps up.
By setting intentions in the morning, we give ourselves a roadmap for the day and ensure we stay aligned with our values.
Tip: Take a few minutes each morning to set an intention or goal for the day. It might be something as simple as "I will take time to relax" or "I will finish that project." When we approach the day with intention, we're more likely to stay focused and feel accomplished, even if life gets busy.
