3 Ways to Boost Your Workouts

April 04, 20243 min read

“Forget the old narrative that workouts need to feel like punishment to count. Our approach is a whole lot more fun - and effective.” - Rachele Jaegers

People approach us all the time. What's your biggest tip to boost my workout?!

Is there a go-to move I must do?

A certain amount of time I need to workout?

How heavy do I need to lift?

How high does my heart rate need to get?

The REAL answer is that none of the above matters as much as you think.

Truly, the most important thing about your workout is that you are actually DOING workouts.

It's in the doing, that the work you put in while you exercise, pays off.

So what have we found through the last 10 years of running VFit Studio that are the 3 biggest ways to boost your workouts?

Tip #1: Bring in Accountability

Accountability is huge! You can't wish yourself to health, you have to do the work. We find that if you add in a dose of accountability to your workouts, you are more likely to get them in. For us, it means that our members sign up for classes. They know when they sign up, our instructors are expecting them to show up. It's also a level of commitment you are making to yourself when you book a class in advance. You can also bring accountability by working with a coach or a small group and setting a goal and sharing it with them. Then, they will be with you and support you and check in on you! Last bit on this, we firmly believe in the power of saying it out loud AND writing it done. This is an amazing one-two punch and connects the thoughts, intent and action all together.

Tip #2 Bring in the Fun

We believe that workouts are meant to be fun! It's a celebration of what your body can do. It's a way to honor yourself. To show up and fill your own cup. Exercise should not feel like punishment. That doesn't mean it's gotta be EASY. What it does mean to us though, is that it should have an element of fun. Some smiles, maybe some good music or funny stories shared by the instructor. Many times a week our classes are a party event for a member birthday or milestone. These are a great way to bring in the fun, too.

Tip #3 Bring in Variety

Doing the same workout, over and over again, is boring. It's hard to motivate if you know exactly what you are going to do and get from each workout. Your body (and mind!) is also going to get bored, plateau, and even be at a higher risk of injury if you only do one kind of workout over and over again. We believe in a fully balance approach to wellness and encourage our members to follow our FUNctional Fitness and work to get in all four categories of fitness in each week with a wide variety of class options. These four categories are: cardio/HIIT, strength, mobility/balance, and stretching recovery.

There you have it! 10 years in on VFit Studio and these three tips hold as true today as they from when we first opened our virtual studio doors. If you are looking to bring in more accountability, fun, and variety, we invite you to join our Spring Shake Up challenge which kicks off on April 15th (open to VFit Studio members only, with limited space). More info to sign up can be found here.
