This week, we are bringing you a quote about being proactive with your health “choose change before change chooses you.”
In today’s day and age, you’d have to be truly living under a rock, to AVOID information about how to treat your body right.
Unless you’ve been hiding under a rock, you “know” that moving your body, eating well, being hydrated, sleeping and getting in regular exercise is how to ensure a better quality of life. No one would argue against these things.
Yet, with all this information we are placed in front of, let’s admit it, we can be reluctant to make changes.
Knowing is simply NOT enough to be healthy.
You have to have the drive and willpower to show up and work for your health! Because being healthy is work. But so is not being healthy and if you ask us 99 times, we would pick putting in the work to be healthy over the work not to be EVERY SINGLE TIME!
Yes we “know” we need to workout regularly, but we let our to do list take over, our “busy” lives and soon enough, those workouts be the first thing to go by the wayside.
Those regular workout habits slowly start to lose more and more priority in your life, and then our energy to just show up leaves as well. Our confidence goes. Our cup runs empty. Our stress levels increase. Our sleep deteriorates. We stop meal planning, we stop planning all together, hoping one day it will just all come back into our lives effortlessly when the time is right.
The downward spiral may continue, until there’s some forcing function that makes us FINALLY hop back into our workout/health routine.
You are forced to make a change. Possibly because your pants stop fitting. Because you can’t remember the last time you felt good in your own skin. Or, the last time you were proud of yourself for accomplishing something.
Or maybe, your life truly starts to depend on getting healthy! Chronic pain, health issues, heart issues, diabetes – these are all huge wake up calls for many.
Change is hard though and it is not nearly as fun when you are forced to make a change!
But change is part of life and something we need to be more proactive toward and not reactive with!
DO NOT, we repeat, DO NOT wait until life kicks you in the butt and forces you to make a change in your health habits.
The longer you hold off and fight the changes you know you need to make, the harder those changes will be to make.
We aren’t trying to be Debbie Down this Monday. If fact, the majority of our members do not need to make a change when it comes to exercise, you’ve got that DIALED IN and our classes are near record breaking levels week, after week.
But maybe there is another area of your life you are resisting making a change you know you need to make, and this can still be a lesson you apply to better your life in another area.
“Choose Change Before It Chooses you.”
How do you do that?
You get proactive, you dust yourself off today and make the changes you already know you need to make.
You make ONE small change and commit to it for the next month.
Maybe that is showing up to 10 minutes of exercise per day.
Or eating one extra serving of vegetables a day.
Maybe that change is putting your phone down an hour earlier every night, to help you get the rest your body NEEDS.
Or setting a glass of water by your bedside, to wake up and nourish your body with hydration each morning.
Change doesn’t have to be a negative experience. Change is beautiful. It means you are alive and have the ability to change what is no longer working.
You make the choice to change, before it’s forced upon you.
The greatest gift in life we have is this one body we are given to live in. And each day, we are given the choice of how we are going to treat it.
With something so sacred and rare – there is only one you – how can choose anything but the best for yourself?
